Septal perforations – state of the art

Abstract Septal perforation is a nasal condition discovered incidentally during an ENT clinical examination. Sometimes, patients may experiment epistaxis, septal crusts at the edge of perforation, obstruction, whistling, rhinorrhea or even pain. Doctors should be familiarized with etiology perforations in order to apply best treatment possible. This includes some following: iatrogenic, self-injury, drugs, inflammatory diseases, etc. A very good anamnesis and examination performed. Also, paraclinical investigations are required depending on particular situation. Treatment individualized include conservational techniques applying grafts/flaps for closing perforation. In this article, most frequent causes reviewed, examples from our clinic short reminder steps taken case.
